Officials say upgrades in cloud services will allow for quality interactions between participants

The 128th China Import and Export Fair, running from Oct 15 to 24, will serve as a platform for the country to open up to the world, organizers said.

The fair, also known as the Canton Fair, has been moved online due to the COVID-19 pandemic that continues to spread across the world, said Xu Bing, spokesman for the biannual event, at a news conference in Guangzhou of South China’s Guangdong province on Wednesday.

Under the guidance of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the event will help companies increase their presence in the global marketplace and contribute to the smooth flow of industrial and supply chains in foreign trade, boosting the confidence of all parties, Xu said.

The 128th Canton Fair features 50 sections sorted into 16 categories of products. There are about 60,000 booths, booked by nearly 26,000 exhibitors from home and abroad.

To increase accessibility, the fair has upgraded its cloud services in a way that enhances the quality of virtual displays. It also improved its online services to better attend to the needs of buyers and exhibitors.

Xu also answered media questions about the optimization of the fair’s official website, enhancing the sense of gain for exhibitors, and the fair’s role in poverty alleviation.

Reporters from 37 domestic and foreign media outlets including Xinhua News Agency, China Central Television, Global Times, China Daily and Japanese newspaper Nikkei attended the briefing.
