How to display hardcore machinery, such as refrigeration compressors and concrete-making machines, was a challenge at the 129th Canton Fair, which is taking place online. Exhibitors have contributed their wisdom to solve the problem.
Hubei Donper, an electromechanical manufacturer, which has been participating in the fair for years, chose to make short videos and live broadcasts in different languages for promotion.
Established in 2002, the company is a supplier to Haier, Hisense, Midea, Panasonic, Bosch and some other well-known home appliance enterprises.
Zhang Qiang, the company’s foreign trade division manager, said that with the last two sessions of the fair being held online, it has this time innovated its marketing strategies and produced short videos.
It also set up new studios for live broadcast and prepared three live shows in English and Korean, which is useful to comprehensively displaying its flagship products.
For Hunan New Era Technology, which has been taking part in the fair since 2007, the main task is to display concrete-making and gardening machinery at this Canton Fair. These “big monsters” also found domestic and foreign buyers through live broadcasts.
“Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Canton Fair has moved online,” said Wu Ruyi, the company’s business manager. “We were a bit surprised at first as we never used live broadcast before.”
To keep up with the trend, every sales staff member began to learn live broadcasting skills and studied their peers. Their effort have begun to pay back this year. “The pandemic has made online marketing a mainstream trend. We can display all our products via it, which is free from offline restrictions and increasing costs,” Wu said.
They also prepared a group of short videos to explain key parts of the equipment on sale, their manufacturing process and debugging methods.
