The COVID-19 outbreak has resulted in huge challenges for some labor-intensive manufacturing industries such as textiles, shoes, hats and hardware. But some of them have seized the opportunity to change how they do business and excel.

Fujian Clorts is a company engaged in shoes manufacturing. This year, the company participated the online fair and received clients' orders.

"The market needs more personalized and differentiated products. Our brand produces waterproof and breathable shoes, such as easy-to-wear shoes and anti-slide running shoes. They are very popular on foreign markets," said Chen Yinghong, president of Fujian Clorts.

Chen noted that during the epidemic, consumers are more likely to buy products with high added value and good quality, which has promoted the innovation of labor-intensive enterprises.

For better development of labor-intensive enterprises, Chen has his own understanding.

First, they should establish a new production model for sharing, so workers can adhere to the spirit of craftsmanship and have a good sense of belonging.

Second, they should find out their core competitiveness and give full play to the efficient management, product innovation, in-depth services and capital support, Chen said.

They should then adhere to market-oriented operation and work for win-win results.

A good platform is also vital for those companies, Chen said. As one of the world's largest platforms specializing in foreign trade, the Canton Fair is trusted by exhibitors and buyers.
