Trading event has signed agreements with 132 institutions from 74 countries and regions so far

The China Foreign Trade Center and the Governance Institute,  Z.S. signed a cooperation agreement online on Wednesday during the ongoing 127th Canton Fair, to formalize a partnership.

"It (the established partnership) will help provide better services for Chinese and Czech businesses participating in the Canton Fair and inject new momentum into the international cooperation in the Belt and Road Initiative," said Li Jinqi, director general of the China Foreign Trade Center, at the online signing ceremony. Li also serves as deputy director and secretary-general of the organizing committee of the fair.

To expand the global marketing network of the Canton Fair and give full play to the role of the fair as a platform for all-round opening-up, the China Foreign Trade Center has promoted the Canton Fair partnership program for years, to create a multi-level and diverse investment ecosystem, Li said. As of now, the Canton Fair has signed cooperation agreements with 132 institutions from 74 countries and regions, of which 55 are from 35 countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

"As an important platform for China's foreign trade and opening-up, the Canton Fair is regarded both a ‘barometer’ and a ‘wind indicator’ of Chinese foreign trade," Li said.

Holding online exhibitions is an innovative measure in a special period, not only exploring a new path for the development of international trade, but also demonstrating China's determination to expand the opening-up and help stabilize the international industrial chain and supply chain security, Li added.

Li's opinion was echoed by Jiri Vancura, chairman of the Governance Institute, Z.S. who said that it's impressive that such a large-scale exhibition could be put online in such a short time.

As a world-famous exhibition, the Canton Fair has established an efficient communication platform for business communities in the two countries.

Vancura said he hopes that the cooperation will bring substantial benefits to the companies from the two countries. And with the geographical advantages of the Czech Republic, it is expected to extend the influence of the Canton Fair to the wider Central and Eastern European markets.

The two sides will commit to integrate their respective resources and platforms, to achieve mutually beneficial and win-win development and contribute to building an open world economy and a community with a shared future, according to Vancura.
