The Canton Fair is expected to be more international, specialized, market-oriented and better equipped with information technology, according to Ren Hongbin, Vice President of Canton Fair and Assistant Minister of Commerce.

Ren made this remark at the opening reception of the 126th Canton Fair on October 14th in Guangzhou, the capital city of Guangdong province. He said that China has contributed over 30% of world economic growth over the past years. In the face of the uncertainty and instability of world economic growth, the Chinese government has always firmly maintained the multilateral trading system and resolutely opposed various forms of both protectionism and unilateralism.

Ouyang Weimin, Vice Governor of Guangdong, said that the 126th Canton Fair will continue to serve as an integrated platform to provide better services through smart, green and safe exhibitions. Ouyang added that Guangdong will make full use of Canton Fair to embrace international cooperation and exchange especially through the Greater Bay Area project between Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong.

Ouyang said, over the past 63 years, the Canton Fair has become a world-renowned brand with international influence and achieved ever-increasing transaction results. This can't have been done without the support from all parties, especially the traders in both China and abroad.
