Guangzhou, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Handicrafts, textiles, aromatic herbs, copper household items... Nepalese exhibitors actively sought cooperation opportunities at the 125th Canton Fair to broaden their global market.

“Canton Fair not only promotes bilateral cooperation between Nepal and China, but also provides opportunities for buyers and suppliers from all over the world to meet and negotiate,” said Sarad Bickram Rana, Executive Director of Trade and Export Promotion Center, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply of Nepal.

“For buyers, it is convenient to conduct business cooperation at the Canton Fair.”A wide variety of exhibits made Sarad always busy.

According to the China-Nepal Economic and Trade Cooperation Profile issued by the Department of Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC in February 2019, bilateral trade volume between China and Nepal reached 1.1 billion USD in 2018. China’s exports to Nepal were 1.08 billion USD, an increase of 11.5%.

How to further promote trade cooperation between the two countries? According to Sarad, Nepal’s Trade and Export Promotion Association will invite Nepalese companies to participate in China’s exhibitions, such as the Canton Fair, and actively introduce foreign investment.

With the advance of the “Belt and Road” initiative, the relationship between China and Nepal is getting closer. The scale of investment in Nepal by Chinese companies and investors is also growing.

“Nepal is along the route of ‘Belt and Road’. We hope to get more Chinese investment in hydropower and other forms of energy generation, home appliance manufacturing, and especially electric vehicles, agricultural mechanization and exports,” said Sarad.
