The 133rd Canton Fair Expands Trade Platform Functions

At the press briefing of the 133rd Canton Fair on April 13, Mr. Xu Bing, Spokesperson of the Canton Fair, Deputy Director General of China Foreign Trade Centre, introduced the expansion of platform functions in this session.
Xu noted that the 133rd Canton Fair will further adopt new models, enrich business patterns and functions, and play the Fair’s role as a comprehensive multi-functional platform with functions including information service, innovation launch, industrial promotion, and trade services.
Organize opening ceremony of the Canton Fair and the Pearl River International Trade Forum
The Opening Ceremony of the 133rd Canton Fair and the 2nd Pearl River International Trade Forum will be held in the evening on April 14. During this session, 5 thematic forums and 18 industry forums will be held. The 5 forums are themed Building Institutional Innovation Hubs of Investment in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Innovation and Development of Trade Digitalization, New Opportunities for China-Africa-West Asia Economic and Trade Cooperation, Intellectual Property Rights Protection and High-quality Development of Trade, Financial Empowerment on High-quality Development of Foreign Trade respectively. In each forum, renowned experts from political, business and academic circles, as well as directors of industry-leading enterprises will attend to discuss the innovative development path. The 18 industry forums will cover topics including green development, robots and industrial automation, design for branding, export risk response, with representatives from leading companies in the foreign trade, cross-border financial service platforms, and digital trade platforms to share their successes.
Build a platform for innovation launch
The 2023 Canton Fair Design Award selection has started. Winners will be announced in the 134th Canton Fair, along with 5 kinds of award including Best of the Best, Gold, Silver, and Bronze Award as well as Sustainable Development Award. For the first time, the Canton Fair holds around 300 products release activities both online and offline to enhance brand image and establish industry benchmarks.
Improve trade services
7 trade services including logistics and warehouse, financial insurance, testing and certification, business consulting, design and innovation, cross-border e-commerce, and integrated services have been provided both online and offline. Related service programs have attracted around 250 organizations to expand the trade service chain, and provide better services for exhibitors from all over the world during the Fair.
