The 133rd Canton Fair Strengthens IPR Protection

At the press briefing of the 133rd Canton Fair on April 13, Mr. Xu Bing, Spokesperson of the Canton Fair, Deputy Director General of China Foreign Trade Centre, introduced the improvement in IPR protection system in this session.

Xu pointed out that as the 133rd Canton Fair has expanded scale and number of enterprises, a host of new products, new technologies, new materials and new processes will be displayed. The IPR protection system will be completed in all aspect to support innovative development. 

Build up professional strength

China National Intellectual Property Administration, authorities from IPR protection in Guangzhou and Guangdong Province, and experts of trade dispute arbitration and mediation will be invited to attend the Canton Fair, so as to improve working mechanism and emergency plans, and to ensure strict and standardized cases response with high efficiency and professionalism.

Strengthen IPR risk prevention in advance

To enhance IPR protection training and publicity for exhibitors, the Canton Fair has sent a catalog of common IPR complaints happened in the former sessions for exhibitors’ self-examination, and will organize spot check of key industry’s exhibits.

Improve the complaint handling platform

The Canton Fair will set up a new IPR complaint handling platform, which for the first time handles online and offline complaints of the Canton Fair in the same system to solve the disputes more effectively.

Crack down on IPR infringements

In accordance with IPR regulations established by Canton Fair, punishments including removing exhibits, criticism in a circulated notice, booths reduction, and disqualification will be imposed on companies suspected of infringements.
