During the 128th China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, trade delegations from Tianjin, Liaoning province and Guangdong province have introduced targeted poverty alleviation projects and shared their experiences in helping enterprises achieve sustainable development in poverty-affected areas.

Business departments from Tianjin and Guangdong are helping enterprises in poor areas to expand the market by holding a series of online shopping promotion events and livestreams, which  have enhanced the brand influence of the agricultural products in those areas.

To build a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way, e-commerce has played a key role in lifting people out of poverty across Guangdong.
Shaoguan in the province has a full coverage of e-commerce across seven local counties in rural demonstration areas.

During the COVID-19 epidemic, the city carried out e-commerce poverty alleviation activities, helped enterprises to resume production and work, stabilized the market and improved people’s livelihood.

Zhanjiang has launched eight major measures to promote poverty alleviation including speeding up the construction of logistics networks in counties, towns and villages, advertising agricultural products from impoverished areas to cities and boosting consumption by “purchasing instead of donations”.

Guangzhou’s poverty alleviation efforts include launching targeted projects, enhancing industrial development and setting up factories in impoverished areas.

Guangzhou Daili Garment, a world-class lingerie manufacturer, has built production bas in Weining, Guizhou province.

The base employs more than 230 people from remote villages and towns in Weining, 40 of whom are from poor households relocated for poverty alleviation.

In villages and towns such as Bahechuan and Niumaowu in the Kuandian Manchu autonomous county in Dandong, Liaoning province, more than 40 greenhouses built by Yucheng Fungus, a leading company cultivating edible fungus in Northeast China, have been producing mushrooms for more than two years.

With the support from the Department of Commerce of Liaoning Province, the company has helped villagers to build standardized mushroom greenhouses, lowered the price of mushroom bundles and provided employment opportunities for local residents.

“Each greenhouse can hold 16,000 mushroom bundles in each season, and the company can save 0.5 yuan per bundle. Villagers can save 8,000 yuan by planting mushrooms in one season and 16,000 yuan in two seasons a year,” said Zang Jianqing, Party secretary of Bahechuan village.
