China’s healthcare industry has played a key role in global anti-epidemic cooperation and many companies in the industry have reaped the benefits with new export deals at the ongoing 128th China Import and Export Fair, insiders said.

Huzhou-based Zhejiang Orient Gene Biotechis exhibiting products for antibody, antigen and nucleic acid testing of the novel coronavirus at the fair. It has received inquiries from American and European purchasers.

The reagents produced by the company have been exported to more than 60 countries, its representatives said.

The company saw its imports and exports reach $163 million in the first eight months of this year, a year-on-year rise of 456 percent.

International demand for devices, such as electronic thermometers, surged during the pandemic. Hangzhou Sejoy Electronics and Instruments saw huge growth in domestic and foreign sales since the beginning of this year. The number of electronic thermometers it has exported since then is twice the exports of such devices last year.

Yantai-based Shandong Enlaide, which deals with the health industry, also participated in efforts to combat the pandemic. It contacted the Yantai Red Cross Society and donated multi-functional shoes worth 500,000 yuan ($74,900) to front-line medical and community workers.

Dong Fengli, chairman of the company, said: “China is at the forefront of world’s epidemic control and economic recovery and it is an active signal for the healthcare industry.”

He thinks exports of Chinese healthcare products will remain a reliable trend in the near future.

Hangzhou Sejoy is also optimistic about China’s export of healthcare commodities and values the opportunities the online fair has brought to companies.

“Via the 128th fair, we have effectively communicated with clients who cannot visit us due to the pandemic,” said Ren Yunhu, general manager of the company.

The company used video playing and live broadcasts to fully display its products, which can help it boast new sales modes, Ren said.
