The 128th China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, has entered the second half of the session running from Oct 15 to 24 as foreign trade companies yield rich harvests.

Guangdong Leiyon Electronic Technology, a manufacturer of audio and video products, has opened three livestreaming rooms at the online Canton Fair and has held 114 livestreaming promotions. Total viewing time has nearly reached 40,000 hours.

The online popularity has given the company new business opportunities. Leiyon has received 355 inquiries, conducted 52 negotiations and reached an intended order amount of about $3.9 million, which is expected to reach $9 million, according to the company.

Du Dan, manager of foreign trade at Leiyon, attributes the results to the company’s optimization and upgrading of exhibition forms and exhibits.

At the 128th Canton Fair, Leiyon has greatly increased the number of new patented products and exhibited more new products, demonstrating the company’s strength in research and development, while helping to improve the probability of winning orders, Du said.

Aimed at potential customers from different countries and regions, the company has made targeted adjustments to its livestreaming promotions.

For instance, Leiyon’s draw-bar audio products target Latin American markets, so the company adds local music and dance to the demonstration of its products, Du said. Doing so increases the customer’s sense of identity to the products.

Guangdong Huanengda Electrical Appliances held nine livestreaming promotions in the first four days of the 128th Canton Fair. The promotions notched over 20,000 views and helped the company receive more than 400 inquiries, which it converted to intended orders worth $2 million.

Chen Xiaoxue, a foreign trade manager at the company, said it benefits from the company’s well-prepared “warmups”, timely reviews and summary.

Huanengda has been in contact with its all customers since the month before the opening of the Canton Fair, guiding them on how to register at the fair’s official website and reminding them to pay attention to the company’s “cloud exhibition booth” and livestreaming room.

The company summarizes customers’ contact information and the products they are interested in every day during the 128th Canton Fair. As for the exhibits in which more customers are interested, the company will introduce more details during upcoming livestreaming promotions.

“The online exhibition platform has improved a lot in terms of real-time interactions,” said a senior executive with an electric appliance supplier based in East China’s Jiangsu province. “It is more convenient for us to communicate with buyers, make an appointment to negotiate with them and quickly establish contact when checking the intended orders.”
