Buyers from member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations are behind a wave of enthusiasm for products exhibited by Chinese companies at the ongoing 128th China Import and Export Fair, or the Canton Fair.

Chengdu-based Toonlyn Herbs is a company focusing on the production, processing and sales of traditional Chinese medicines. It has received orders from its regular customers in ASEAN countries at the Canton Fair, which runs between Oct 15-24.

“As TCM has played its role in helping prevent and cure the novel coronavirus pneumonia during the outbreak, we noticed that there is a growing demand for the TCM from overseas buyers at this Canton Fair,” said Cai Bin, a business manager with Toonlyn Herbs.

While receiving orders from its regular customers, the company has also received enquiries from new customers, covering dozens of varieties of medicines and at a quantity of about 13 metric tons, according to Cai.

Cai added that besides the high quality of the TCM products, the improved services offered by the 128th Canton Fair contributes to the increase in enquiries from new customers.

“The Canton Fair online exhibition platform has been upgraded, which allows customers to e-mail enquiries directly. Negotiations between exhibitors and buyers have become more effective and efficient,” Cai said.

An artificial flower supplier from Longde county in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, has also felt the benefits of the ASEAN market at the Canton Fair.

The manufacturer is the first export-oriented artificial flower company in the county and has taken part in four sessions of the Canton Fair.

Now, the company has become one of the largest suppliers of artificial flower products in Malaysia.
