The China Import and Export Fair, also known as Canton Fair, has injected momentum into a sizeable number of companies, serving to expand markets and enhance enterprise vitality. Among companies to benefit from this momentum is Shanghai Solid Stainless Steel Products.

Founded in 1991, Shanghai Solid Stainless Steel Products is one of the first stainless steel product manufacturers in China and one of the first joint ventures in Shanghai’s Pudong New Area.

When it was founded, the company imported 100 percent of its raw materials. All of its products were sold overseas.

“This business model seems like it can ensure stable revenue. But it means the company’s ‘throat’ is held by others,” said Zhang Bin, general manager of the company. To improve the situation, the stainless steel container manufacturer took part in the Canton Fair in 1993. Zhang said that decision set a milestone in the development of the company.

At its Canton Fair debut, to Zhang’s surprise, the company received an order worth nearly $200,000. Sensing business opportunities at the Canton Fair, Zhang and his team ramped up efforts to learn more about foreign trade and how to directly negotiate with overseas customers. Now, the company's products have been sold to many countries and regions around the world, and are widely praised.

The company’s products are of high-quality, and it’s a very trustworthy company, according to a regular customer of the company, from the Netherlands.

While developing markets, the company has stepped up its efforts to further improve its manufacturing technologies and quality control. Its products have earned a host of world-class industrial design awards, including the iF and the Red Dot.
