During the first two days of the ongoing China Import and Export Fair, also known as Canton Fair, 39 of 126 exhibitors from Taizhou, Jiangsu province, received orders totaling $9.64 million. The United States and Europe accounted for $5.32 million of those orders, organizers said.

The figures demonstrate the active role of the online fair in facilitating trade and implies the appeal of Chinese manufactures to European and US buyers, organizers said.

Jiangmen Posi Refrigeration Appliance is among the companies that have reaped a fruitful harvest at the fair.

"Normally, summer is a peak holiday season in Europe and the US," said Li Xueliang, a manger of Posi.

But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, people forced to stay at home have created increasing demand for air conditioners, Li said.

Mobile air conditioners are popular in the European and US markets, Li said. The pandemic has led to fast growth in the company's sales.

Li said the company has reached a preliminary agreement with an European buyer to provide mobile air conditioners worth about $2 million.

Xi'an Haitu International Supply Chain Management is the company that has so far received the largest orders among exhibitors from Shaanxi province during the CIEF.

Focused on trade in automotive aftermarket products and also engaged as an agency for the import and export of products including aviation materials and equipment, the company said it has many regular buyers from Europe and the US.

The company established trustworthy partnerships with its regular clients in long-term cooperation, said Feng Jun, a manager of the company.

Thanks to the partnerships, Haitu has received orders from these buyers after it launched six new products during the online fair, Feng said.

"We feel confident and have increased our livestreaming in recent days to expand our sales online," Feng added.

Another company is Nantong Etex Textile, which has received three intent orders worth about $500,000 from Europe and the US.

It was the first time that Etex has promoted its products via livestreaming during the fair, according to the company.

One of the major deals came a day after the company's livestream at the fair, an Etex manager said.

By securing orders at the online fair, the company has become more confident in expanding their export market, the manager said.
