At the ongoing 127th Canton Fair, a black tea planted in Mabian Yi autonomous county is becoming popular online via a livestream show.

"The soup of our black tea has a bright color and a sweet and mellow taste," a salesman from Jinyuchun Tea told online audiences. "The tea grew on pollution-free land in our company's own planting base, which is located on the mountain above 1,200 meters."

The county is located in the junction of Leshan Mountain, Yibin city and Liangshan Yi autonomous prefecture in Sichuan province.

The high altitude of the region helps to maintain original qualities of local farm products and contributes to their eco-friendliness. But the bad traffic there affects their marketing. However, the situation is under change.

As the 127th Canton Fair has intensified its efforts in poverty alleviation, many export-oriented products from remote areas, like the black tea, are embracing more exposure online to global markets.

This is the fourth time that Jinyuchun Tea has participated in the fair. Through the Canton Fair, the company has seized opportunities to ship its products abroad.

Feng Min, deputy general manager of the company, said their tea was popular with buyers in Japan and Europe during past sessions of the Canton Fair. This year, as the Canton Fair has moved online, the passion of foreign buyers has remained steady.

Fair organizers said since 2017, the Canton Fair has provided nearly 5,000 booths for more than 3,000 enterprises from these areas, which has effectively boosted their foreign trade.

In particular, the 127th Canton Fair is trying to offer targeted support for companies from poor areas and provide them with the necessary training to improve their market performance online. The fair is open to all enterprises in poverty-stricken areas. It encouraged their participation by exempting their application fees, said Zhang Li, deputy director of the foreign trade department of the Ministry of Commerce.
