In order to invite more large multinational corporate buyers to the exhibition, the Kawan Lama Group, Indonesia's giant retailer, was invited to join the cloud promotions of the 127th Canton Fair via online connections.

Guests presenting at the online event included Wang Liping, Minister Counselor of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia, Ye Jijiang, Deputy Secretary General of the Canton Fair and Vice President of the China Foreign Trade Centre (Group), and Mr. Kuncoro Wibowo, Board Chairman of Kawan Lama Group, who all delivered a speech.

More than 100 buyers from the Kawan Lama Group's offices in Jakarta, Chinese mainland, and Hong Kong SAR also attended the event online.

Wang pointed out that the Chinese people and the Indonesian people have been supportive to each other in terms of the battle against the coronavirus since its outbreak, which has made positive contribution to the prevention and control of the epidemic as well as the trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

As of April, the bilateral trade volume between China and Indonesia reached USD 24.1 billion, and the imports increased by 8.5% on a year-over-year basis, showing the strong resilience of the bilateral trade relationship.

He praised that brands of Kawan Lama Group like ACE and Informa are so popular in Indonesia that they are known as Indonesia's "IKEA". As the top platform for promoting trade cooperation among countries around the world, the Canton Fair will move the exhibition of this session online, presenting a unique "cloud exhibition" for all of its traders.

Wang also expressed his hope that the Kawan Lama Group will continue to make new partners, discover new opportunities, and achieve a "good harvest" for another year via the Canton Fair.

Ye Jijiang said that, in order to keep the international industrial chain and supply chain open, secure and stable, and help Chinese and foreign companies to expand the market, the Chinese government has decided that the 127th Canton Fair will be held online.

This session of the Fair will fully make use of the digital technology to create a brand new online trade platform. On this platform, domestic and overseas new products can be displayed online, generating new business opportunities for all enterprises, promoting new development with mutual benefit.

Kawan Lama Group has been participating in the Multinational Sourcing Service of the Canton Fair for a long time. It is an old friend as well as a good partner of the Fair. In recent years, it has been relying on the global sourcing platform to actively connect with local industrial clusters in China and establish mutually beneficial and win-win partnership with Chinese enterprises.

This session of the Fair will provide exclusive VIP privileges for Kawan Lama Group and other multinational buyers to attend the exhibition and improve their attending experience.

Ye sincerely invited Indonesian companies including Kawan Lama Group to register for the exhibition and get more deals done on the Fair, making new contributions to the trade cooperation between the two countries.

Mr. Kuncoro Wibowo said that he was a witness of the great change of the Canton Fair as he himself has joined the Fair for 25 consecutive years.

Through the Canton Fair, you can not only buy high-quality Chinese products, but also meet many reliable suppliers and establish good cooperative relations with them.

He spoke highly of the online session of the Fair, during which the buyers of Kawan Lama Group could find better and more products without leaving their office.

In response to the characteristics of this online session, the staff of the China Foreign Trade Centre introduced the overall functions of the online platform with the theme of "Buyer's Digital Journey to the Canton Fair" through video connections. They also demonstrated relevant business process and communicated with Indonesian buyers on issues such as registration, logging in, and inquiry for exhibits.

As Indonesia's largest export destination and largest source of imports, China is Indonesia's largest trade partner. Indonesia is also an important source of buyers for the Canton Fair and there are about 5,000 Indonesian buyers attending each session of the Fair.

Since 1997 when the Kawan Lama Group came to the Fair for the first time, it organizes dozens of buyers to attend the Fair each session and actively participates in the Multinational Sourcing Service of the Fair.

The Canton Fair's MSS is a one-stop customized service for large-scale multinational buyers, international top 250 retailers and other high-end buyers. Since 2003, this customized service has been offered to many large multinational corporate buyers such as Wal-Mart, Carrefour, Auchan, Metro, Kawan Lama Group, etc.

As these multinational buyers have a large number of staff buyers who are looking for a wide range of products and make orders in large quantities, this cloud promotion customized exhibition guide service, timely responds to key buyers on the online session of the Fair and helps attract large-scale global sourcing buyers to attend the exhibition.
