CFTC Working Group Promotes Canton Fair in Qatar

From Sept 19-20, China Foreign Trade Centre working group promoted Canton Fair in Doha, capital of Qatar, through organizing promotion conference, meeting with airline company, chambers of commerce and industrial organizations.

Li Jinqi, Director General of China Foreign Trade Centre, met with Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Towar Al Kuwari, First Vice-Chairman of Qatar Chamber and other management. Li said that with numerous buyers and exhibitors, Canton Fair is a premium platform for Chinese and overseas companies to open up the global market. He encouraged Qatar Chamber to make full use of Canton Fair, drive cooperation between enterprises of the two countries and boost the bilateral economic and trade development. Kuwari gave high praise of Canton Fair as a key platform for conducting global trade cooperation; he also said that Qatar Chamber will organize Qatari companies to attend Canton Fair and promote shared development of companies of the two sides.

In their business trip, the group also met with famous chain hypermarket LuLu, premium department store Blue Salon, large safety products dealer Breaker and other Canton Fair loyal buyers and held face-to-face meetings with them to know their demands. Li said that loyal buyers are Canton Fair’s treasure and that their voices are highly valued; their advices and suggestions will be looked into for adoption to improve the Fair’s services. Representatives of Canton Fair’s loyal buyers said that, Canton Fair’s management leading a visit and listening to their advices in business trip reflects the great importance attached to loyal buyers; they will organize buyers to attend the Fair and work together with CFTC to create more reward for attendees.

When meeting with Canton Fair’s Global Partner Qatar Airways, the group and Qatar Airways leadership discussed on deepening cooperation. Li Jinqi said that Canton Fair and Qatar Airways share the common target market and same customer interests as both world’s influential service providers. The mutual beneficial cooperation recent years between the two sides has remarkably improved the two parties’ global reputation and influence in their respective sectors. SVP Simon Andrew Newton Smith of Qatar Airways spoke highly of Canton Fair’s value as a global platform for trade promotion and achievements of the cooperation. The two sides agreed that cooperation should be furthered and extended for shared and win-win development.

The working group also visited Chinese Ambassador to Qatar, Zhou Jian. Ambassador Zhou gave positive remarks on Canton Fair’s role in promoting global trade exchanges and said that he will provide support for Canton Fair’s promotion events in Qatar and for Chinese enterprises to open up and diversify international markets.

The group also exchanged ideas with the Economic and Commercial Counselor’s Office of the Chinese Embassy in Qatar on conducting pragmatic cooperation with local chambers of commerce and industrial organizations and better promoting Canton Fair.
