Export transaction to “Belt & Road” countries keeps increasing

At the concluding press conference of the 125th session of the Canton Fair, Xu Bing, Deputy Secretary General and Spokesperson of the Canton Fair and Deputy Director General of China Foreign Trade Centre, introduced results achieved at this Canton Fair in implementing the “Belt & Road” Initiative.

Xu said that unimpeded trade is a key part of “Belt & Road” development. In recent years, buyer and exhibitor recruitment in countries along the route has been enhanced at the Canton Fair. Each session, about 80000 buyers from B&R countries attend the fair, accounting for 45% of the total and increasing. 8198 exhibiting companies from these countries have participated in the International Pavilion, the largest exhibiting group.

President Xi Jinping pointed out at the 2nd Belt &Road Forum that jointly building the Belt & Road has brought forward more space for economic growth of the world, provided a platform for enhancing international cooperation and made new contribution to a community of shared destiny of human kind. As an important platform to boost “B&R” cooperation, Canton Fair has implemented the Initiative in a meticulous manner and facilitated trade connectivity between China and countries along the route as well as win-win development.

Deepen cooperation with industrial organizations and chamber of commerce in B&R countries. The Canton Fair Global Partnership Program has been further promoted, with the focus on developing partnership with important organizations in B&R countries. To this day Canton Fair has established partnership with 48 chambers of commerce and industrial organizations in 32 countries. On the basis of mutual beneficial development, the two parties will engage in cooperation on promotion, mutual visit, exhibition, business travelling and information exchange, which will provide convenience for companies in these countries and bring more vitality to the trade cooperation under the B&R framework.

B&R exhibitors witness remarkable results of participation in the fair. 383 exhibiting companies from Belt & Road countries and regions participate in the International Pavilion this session. Turkey’s high-end household appliance industrial cluster, Egypt’s famous household appliance brand Fresh, Indonesia’s household appliance leader Polytron, and Indian company Vego have participated in the show for many years and considered Canton Fair as the most important platform for global marketing. Turkey’s Simford has participated for 10 years in a roll and expanded into international market such as Africa and Southeast Asia. Polytron from Indonesia has received more than 200 buyers from 15 countries and regions.

Buyer attendance of B&R countries shows a stable and positive trend. The number of buyers from “Belt and Road” countries accounts for 45.03% of the total, a 0.5 percentage point higher over last year. New buyers from these countries take up 52.68& of the total new buyers, a 0.94 percentage point higher over last year.

Export transaction with countries along the route keeps increasing. Many exhibitors have followed the dynamics of international market, responded the “Belt & Road” Initiative and explored overseas markets in multiple channels. The transaction with “Belt and Road” countries totaled 10.63 billion dollars, a year-on-year increase of 9.9%, accounting for 35.8% of the total.
