The China Import and Export Fair is a platform that has witnessed the growth and development of Amos Food from a sweets trader to a major enterprise over the last decade, said Ma Enduo, chairman of the group.

“The Canton Fair made Amos Food’s worldwide development of the candy business possible,” Ma said. “There would be no such increase of our businesses without the fair.”

Founded in 2004 in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, Amos Food is a candy export conglomerate in China that sells products in more than 50 countries and regions including the United States, Australia and Japan.

Amos was the first company to exhibit candies during the Canton Fair.

At that time, the company didn’t have its own production line and mostly relied on the orders of the original equipment manufacturer, according to Wu Weijia, co-founder of the group and manager of its international markets.

After attending the Canton Fair several times, Wu said she found that buyers from high-end markets such as Europe and the US have high expectations for the quality of candies they buy. The way of OEM struggles to meet their needs.

As a result, the company began introducing its production line and thus changed to become an original design manufacturer, Wu said.

The move helped the company to see a surge in business and has attracted buyers from countries and regions including the US, Europe and the Middle East to sign deals during the Canton Fair.

Recalling the Canton Fair in 2012, Ma said, “The extensive experience that we have gained from attending the Canton Fair is seen in our long-term measures to renew concepts and make breakthroughs in developing products and expanding new markets.”

The company first took part in the Canton Fair to seek export channels and learn more new information about the international market, Wu said.

“As more enterprises take part in the Canton Fair, the fair has played a bigger role in helping us expand our consumers, bringing us information about the international market and building our brand,” she said.

To date, Amos Food is not only famous in overseas markets but also a well-known candy brand in supermarkets such as Walmart, Ole and Sam's Club.
