The China Foreign Trade Center announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Confederation of Danish Industry online on Monday during the ongoing China Import and Export Fair, marking the establishment of a new partnership between the two sides.
Zhang Shujing, counsellor of the business office of the Chinese embassy in Denmark, said this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
The move is of great significance for industry and commerce between China and Denmark to the celebrate the anniversary, Zhang said. The agreement between the CFTC and the CDI reaffirms the strong cooperation each play in both countries' exhibition and business development, she said.
The collaboration will have a positive impact on the long-term development of the two sides' commercial industry, Zhang added.
Ye Jijiang, deputy secretary-general of the CIEF and vice-president of the CFTC (Group), said the fair is an important platform for China's foreign trade and opening-up, contributing to the economic and trade cooperation and exchanges between China and foreign countries.
Holding the 127th Canton Fair online is an innovative measure and helps explore a new road for the development of international trade, Ye said.
Establishing the partnership with the CDI will help the fair to provide better services for Danish enterprises and thus inject new vitality to the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, Ye added.
Thomas Bustrup, COO of the CDI, said trade between Denmark and China has a history of more than 250 years and the signing of the agreement will be conducive to further promoting mutual cooperation in trade.
The CDI will take this agreement as an opportunity to proactively organize Danish member corporations to participate in the fair in a bid to explore more cooperation and benefit both countries' enterprises, Bustrup said.
China is Denmark's largest trading partner in Asia and the second largest overseas investment destination. The new agreement helps the CIEF expand its marketing network to the Nordic region, officials said. To date, the CIEF has signed cooperation agreements with 133 organizations from 75 countries and regions.
