Wen said after 64 years of reform, innovation and development, the Canton Fair has become the world’s largest international economic and business event and China’s largest international trade promotion platform.
Each session of the Canton Fair has gathered some 26,000 enterprises as well as exhibitors and buyers from more than 220 countries and regions around the world.
Under the influence of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Canton Fair, which was held online, plays an active role in maintaining the stability of the global industrial and supply chains.
This year’s Canton Fair has many highlights, and the number of exhibits has reached a new high. Exhibitors have uploaded about 2.75 million exhibits and marked about 840,000 new products.
The exhibition forms are rich and diverse, with pictures and videos and three-dimensional displays of enterprises and displays.
There are also some 10,000 exhibiting companies that have carried out live broadcasts online.
Wen said as the largest platform for China’s opening-up and international trade cooperation, the Canton Fair has received strong support from the global business community since its establishment.
To promote mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, the China Foreign Trade Centre establishes partnerships with influential overseas business institutions and provides useful services for enterprises through investment cooperation, information exchange, publicity and business promotion.
Wang Jian, economic and commercial counselor of the Chinese embassy in Kazakhstan, said that China and Kazakhstan are friendly neighbors linked by mountains and rivers.
“Economic and trade cooperation is an important part of China-Kazakhstan relations. China is Kazakhstan’s second-largest trading partner and largest export destination.
“This year is the first year of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25). The Canton Fair is an important platform for unblocking the double cycle and stimulating new potential. It is also an important bridge to promote practical cooperation and close business contacts.”
Yu Hongchi, economic and commercial counselor of the Chinese embassy in Russia, said the Canton Fair has been hailed as a “barometer” and “weathervane” of China’s foreign trade.
“By signing a cooperation agreement, the China Foreign Trade Centre and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Russia will strengthen contacts and conduct all-around cooperation on the investment, publicity and promotion of the Canton Fair in Russia. By doing so, the chamber hopes to attract more Russian companies to participate in the Canton Fair and introduce high-quality Chinese products into the Russian market.”
