Enterprises see efforts pay off as web-based customers flock from across world

As the Canton Fair has been hosted on the cloud for three consecutive sessions, China’s foreign trade enterprises have become adept at promoting their products and services online.
A vacuum cleaner supplier based in Beijing secured 12 orders and achieved an intended turnover of $6 million in the first five days of the 129th Canton Fair, which runs from April 15-24.
With more than 20 years of research and development in the fields of vacuum-cleaning and floor-mopping robots, the company sells its products in 86 countries across the world, according to an executive with the company.
“At this Canton Fair, we are displaying 25 kinds of products and conducting two livestreaming promotions per day,” the executive added.
Yiyuancheng Technology is a decorative glass supplier headquartered in Beijing. “We have more than 4,000 varieties of handmade glass products exported to countries and regions including the United States, Europe and the Middle East. The online exhibition and livestreaming have helped narrow the distance between exhibitors and buyers,” said a senior executive of the company.
Jinmao, an established foreign trade company based in Wuxi, East China’s Jiangsu province, was a newcomer to the field of internet marketing at the 127th Canton Fair held in June 2020.
However, the company has quickly turned a corner. At the 128th Canton Fair last year, Jinmao used a 225-square-meter multimedia livestreaming center and offered a 3D display link for each exhibit.
At this fair, the company has optimized the livestreaming center with sets of multifunctional and high-definition devices.
“At the last two Canton Fairs, we conducted short-duration but multiple-session livestreaming events. But many customers said they had not enough time to learn about our products,” said an executive of Jinmao.
“At this fair, we conduct a two-hour livestreaming event every day, to allow visitors to have a deeper and detailed understanding of our products,” the executive added.
Hengguang, an electric appliance supplier based in Guangdong province, has reached intended orders valued at $1 million in the first five days of the fair, according to Liang Yuanming, its general manager.
“After the 128th Canton Fair, we conducted a livestreaming exercise every week and helped our salespeople with improving both spoken English and the ability of product and business promotion, which helped us make full preparations for the 129th fair,” Liang said.
Evergo, a furniture supplier based in Guangdong province, experienced an order decrease affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. But it has seen the silver lining at this Canton Fair.
Displaying its more than 20 self-developed products in the online 3D exhibition hall, Evergo has lured the attention from both old and new customers.
At present, the company’s orders from European and American markets are lined up until September.
