Honey supplier from Tibet and textile producer in Ningxia among enterprises winning new sales

Foreign trade enterprises are gaining access to more business opportunities at the 129th China Import and Export Fair, better known as the Canton Fair, held between April 15-24 online.

Among them is a honey supplier based in Lhasa, Tibet autonomous region. It has not only presented honey from the “Roof of the World”, but the charming scenery of Tibet to visitors from home and abroad.

“We have participated in the Canton Fair since 2018 and our booth, with strong Tibetan characteristics, has attracted many buyers from top overseas stores to enquire,” said Peng Zhihao, an executive of the honey producer.
“Last year, the Canton Fair was held online. We decided to show the company’s bee farm environment and honey workshop through videos and pictures, which has helped us receive plenty of enquiries from buyers.”
The Canton Fair is helping to make Tibetan honey more recognized in the global market, Peng added. “At present, our products have been sold to countries including Singapore, the United Kingdom and France.”
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, this is the third time the fair is being held online.
Peng said that the online Canton Fair has created a new channel and business model for the company’s foreign trade and sales business. This allows salespeople to take turns in the online negotiation room throughout the day. They can communicate in a timely manner and intensively with buyers from both domestic and overseas markets.
Meanwhile, a textile company headquartered in Wuzhong, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, is trying to develop its foreign trade business at the Canton Fair.

Ma Xiaobing, president of the textile company, who was born in the 1990s, is confident in developing foreign trade this year.

Ma’s company is the only producer of felt in Wuzhong’s Tongxin county, which is a local craft product alongside embroidery and paper cutting.

The company has skills in developing foreign trade and inquiries from foreign buyers at the Canton Fair have helped to enhance his confidence, Ma said.

“We’re participating in the Canton Fair to look for export opportunities and carry out industry research,” Ma said.

“The company is seizing the moment to train foreign trade staff members and striving to help Ningxia-made felt ‘go global’.”
