This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. It marks the beginning of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and the journey to build a modern socialist country in an all-around way.

In this special year, it is of great significance to hold the 129th China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair.

The event links production and consumption, connects domestic and international markets and serves as a key platform to boost China’s new development pattern of dual circulation.

The Canton Fair strengthens national efforts in exhibition, investment promotion and services to further showcase China’s development in an all-around way and opens up the country to the outside world.

The fair has played a vital role in boosting China’s national plans.

It has built a special zone focusing on poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.

Enterprises in poverty-stricken areas are exempt from participation fees and provided with precise services in terms of marketing, targeted poverty alleviation and channels to develop international markets.

The fair is promoting the country’s dual-circulation growth pattern by inviting more domestic buyers, large-scale supermarkets, retail chains and e-commerce platforms to participate.

It is also cooperating with the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China to organize offline promotion activities, which aim to help foreign trade companies connect with the domestic market.

Through exhibition, marketing, the launch of new products and other activities, it has helped companies expand to new markets and promote the stability of foreign trade.

The fair is more mature in its management with optimized platforms such as the intelligent distribution of purchasing intentions and real-time communication.

Other improvements include online booths that can share content to mainstream social media to attract more potential buyers, the allocation of live broadcast resources for exhibitors, a cloud exhibition hall where exhibits can be put on and off shelves in batches, and the expanded rights of exhibitor accounts and trading group information management.

Through these measures, the independent management of trading groups and enterprises are further aided, and it will be convenient for purchasers to “get in, find and talk”.

The number of products uploaded by exhibitors in this year’s Canton Fair exceeded 2.7 million, of which about 820,000 were new products. This year’s fair organized 20 trading groups and 85 leading companies across 40 exhibition areas to hold 137 new product launches. They involved electronic appliances, consumer goods, clothing and other products.

The latest technologies are being used to help better display new products. Exhibitors can display their goods through graphics, video, 3D and virtual-reality technology, including 2,600 virtual exhibition halls.
