The 129th China Import and Export Fair held a training and promotion conference for overseas commercial and industrial organizations and multinational buyers in Guangzhou on Tuesday.

Xu Bing, deputy director-general at the fair’s organizer China Foreign Trade Centre, said the fair is an international trade cooperation platform that promotes opening-up and win-win relationships between China and other countries.

The fair’s value lies in that it creatively serves trade cooperation, facilitates one-stop trade consultation and purchase, and reveals development trends in industries and international trade, he said.

The event also drives the development of China’s and even the world’s conference and exhibition industry and boosts the local economy, Xu said, adding that it will use digital technologies to establish a trade platform integrating online and offline services.

The demand for booths at the fair exceeds its supply mainly because it has accumulated numerous and high-quality buyer groups from different countries and regions over the past 65 years, Xu said.

The center’s buyer marketing service team aims to establish a comprehensive partnership with global governmental trade promotion agencies, commercial and industrial organizations and important buyers, Xu said, adding in that way it can build a better global business cooperation system and offer better services.

Liu Quandong, general manager of the center’s international liaison department, introduced the 129th fair’s key information involving organization, improvement on its website, supporting activities, intellectual property protection and training.

Guests from Russia and the United States, as well as China’s Hong Kong, said hosting the fair online during this special period is a pioneering approach in the global trade industry. It not only gives impetus to maintaining smooth operations of international industrial and supply chains, but also creates new opportunities for global exhibitors and traders.

The training and promotion event was the fair’s first offline activity designed for buyers during the pandemic, attracting guests from 10 countries and regions.
