“The online exhibition allows international buyers to take part without leaving their homes and place direct inquiries online. With the reduction of time and economic cost, the Canton Fair welcomed a large number of buyers, helping increase our opportunities to develop new customers,” said Xu Mei, general manager with a foreign trade company headquartered in East China’s Anhui province.
Over the past few days, the company has received a raft of inquiries, and some buyers have a strong intent to place an order, Xu added. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the company has been more aware of the importance of online platforms for enterprises in poor areas to “go global”, according to Xu.
Since the beginning of this year, the company has turned to online negotiations, video conferences and online signings to help maintain regular customers and expand new businesses.
An ethnic handicraft manufacturer based in Kunming in Yunnan province, is attracting visitors’ attention at the 128th Canton Fair with its unique products. During this Canton Fair, the company has made a series of preparations, including sending invitations to regular customers in advance and offering livestreamed products promotions, that have achieved favorable results, said Cao Caimei, general manager of the company.
