The 63-year-old China Import and Export Fair has kept up with domestic and international situations and promoted resource matching and international trade cooperation, said Liu Jianying, an expert from the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Liu wrote an essay recently about the fair, which held its 127th session online in June against a backdrop of the pandemic and shrinking international trade demand.

Based on the last session’s success, the ongoing 128th online fair is set to meet both its own needs and global expectations, Liu said.

The event helps to demonstrate China’s strong manufacturing capacity and its action to add momentum to the recovery of the global economy, according to Liu.

The fair focuses on the development of new digital infrastructure featuring 5G, cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence and the industrial internet. It offers online exhibition and promotion to encourage deals between global sellers and purchasers.

It has attracted nearly 26,000 companies and designed 50 professional areas which display 16 categories of products.

To better match supply and demand, it has taken advantage of mainstream search engines and social media to launch targeted marketing in main industries and markets. By diverse smart matching and communication activities, it has attracted more international purchasers, Liu said.

According to Liu, the fair helps to drive both domestic and foreign trade. It has invited more domestic purchasers and held closely related online and offline activities to promote the sales of foreign trade companies and bridge national and international markets.
