Ren Hongbin, deputy chief of the China Import and Export Fair and assistant minister of commerce, made a research tour of the ongoing 128th fair on Oct 15.

The official said the event, also known as the Canton Fair, is the most important show for traders worldwide.

Ren mentioned the 127th Canton Fair held in June, which was moved online for the first time because of the novel coronavirus outbreak at the beginning of this year.

He said with the joint efforts of governments, organizers, exhibitors, participants and other stakeholders, the cloud Canton Fair proved to be a great success. It plays a significant role in stabilizing international trade and investment and safeguarding the healthy operation of the global industrial and supply chains, he added.

During his visit to the network operational safety guarantee center of the 128th Canton Fair, Ren learned that the event’s organizers have made great efforts to upgrade exhibition, business matchmaking and transaction platforms.

He was told that the upgrades were made to offer greater convenience to exhibitors and buyers.

Organizing officials told Ren that the upgraded cloud systems aim to help businesses access platforms tailored to their demands and easily identify target products, services and potential partners.

There are also upgrades that aim to simplifying registration and transactions. For instance, the new registration system on mobile terminals not only improve efficiency but offer new experiences to users.

With the online measures in place, Ren asked the center’s employees to pay special attention to network safety to protect traders.

When visiting the Canton Fair’s office that handles complaints relating to intellectual property rights, Ren told staff members to attach importance to complaints relating to online infringements, as almost all the deals will be made online at the fair.
