As a participant since the first Canton Fair in 1957, Shanghai Minmetals Development Ltd has gradually developed from a State-owned import and export company into a multi-field enterprise integrating professional products and trade services.

Hu Jian, assistant to the general manager of the company, said the Canton Fair is a guarantee of commercial integrity and an important platform for foreign trade enterprises.

At the 123rd Canton Fair, a female merchant from the Middle East went straight to the booth of Shanghai Minmetals to buy "Diamond Brand" fastener products.

She told the salesperson she had participated in many sessions of the Canton Fair and was impressed with Shanghai Minmetals' products. "Many fastener products are fixed in the same position every time, and the blue curtain wall is inlaid with a large 'diamond' logo."

Another merchant from the Republic of Ghana was also satisfied with "Diamond Brand" products.

In his mind, China's best products and enterprises will definitely appear at the Canton Fair.

"Most of the foreign businessmen we meet at the Canton Fair share the same ideas as this Ghanaian merchant.

"They also believe that the Canton Fair is a trustworthy brand and doing business here can guarantee business benefits," Hu said.

"On the basis of having an excellent trading platform, the company's high-quality products will inevitably produce a brand-superposition effect."

"Diamond", "Iron Anchor" and "Lion" are the three major brands of Shanghai Minmetals.

All along, Shanghai Minmetals has upheld the concept of quality and reputation first by intensively cultivating in the professional field, creating differentiated competitive advantages and then superimposing the brand effect of the Canton Fair.

Shanghai Minmetals' international sales network currently covers more than100 countries, with more than 3,000 customers in the region.

The international trade volume in recent years has remained around $400 million.

Hu entered Shanghai Minmetals in 1990 and has participated in the Canton Fair for 48 sessions. He said the Canton Fair has played a key role in his career and the company's overall development. The Canton Fair keeps pace with the latest trend in the business world by tracking and predicting the direction of the export market.

In the autumn of 2019, on the opening day of the 126th Canton Fair, Lebanese businessman Omar Fahei and his wife made a special trip to the booth of Shanghai Minmetals and presented hand-made plaque as a gift to the company.

The plaque is printed with the national flags of Lebanon and China as well as the congratulations to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Republic of China and Shanghai Minmetals.

In the 1950s, Fahei's grandfather made the first wire business worth 100,000 pounds with Shanghai Minmetals at the Canton Fair.
