Companies now embracing virtual and augmented reality to help demonstrate their products online

It's not an easy job for manufacturers or suppliers to present their products to clients online, especially if they're large or have a complicated structure.

However, at the Canton Fair, which is being held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many producers have successfully demonstrated their products through technologies such as 3D display, virtual reality and augmented reality.

Beiqi Foton, an automobile manufacturer based in Beijing, is one of the companies using such technologies to showcase its products.

"We used the 3D online cloud showroom to present our vehicles to clients for the first time, giving them an all-new experience of our products," said Sun Fei, branding director of Beiqi Foton International Trade Co.

The executive added that through the use of VR and AR, clients can closely study the interior and exterior of Foton's full product portfolio, which includes heavy and light-duty trucks, vans, pickups and buses.

Sun noted that while the new technologies vividly present commodities, the quality of products is always crucial to win clients.

In the past few years, Beiqi Foton has devoted itself to improving its products to help them compete on the international market.

As a result, Sun said the company achieved substantial growth in its commercial vehicle segment in the first several months of 2020, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Executives of CAMC Hualing Automobile share a similar view.

CAMC Hualing is a manufacturer of heavy trucks and special vehicles used in various industries.

At the Canton Fair, the company displayed six product varieties in its online showroom.

Hao Lifeng, an executive in charge of exports, said the vehicles feature its self-developed technologies in the fields of smart driving, internet connectivity, weight reduction and strengthened vehicle body structure for better safety.
