Industries taking on latest tech to thrive

China's traditional industries are using the latest information technologies to upgrade their production and improve competitiveness.

One such sector is the textile industry, with more players teaming up with the country's e-commerce platforms including Aliabad, Lianshang, b2l and Soubu, according to China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textile.

The chamber said the partnerships with e-commerce platforms have better coordinated textile companies with raw material providers.

Domestic textile manufacturers have also resorted to new technologies including 5G, robotics and artificial intelligence to improve their productive efficiency and achieve lower operational costs.

With a wider use of digital technologies, the textile industry is becoming increasingly innovation-driven.

The chamber's statistics show that more than 36 percent of the production equipment of domestic textile manufacturers have been digitalized and more than 27 percent of the equipment is internet-connected.
