Wen Zhongping, president of the Hubei HAC International, a supplier of light industrial products, still remembers his first trip to the Canton Fair in 1985.

At that time the exhibition hall was not vary large, Wen recalled. Trade delegations displayed their commodities in separate rooms, which made it difficult for buyers to compare products, he said.

Wen's team made a deal with a Hong Kong-based company at the 58th Canton Fair in 1985, bringing a turnover of $270,000.

Excited with this success, he realized the fair was a reliable platform for both suppliers and buyers.

The Canton Fair attaches great importance to brand building, management and protection, Wen said. "Exhibitors at the event must comply with various rules and requirements."

Thanks to these efforts, participants from home and abroad could achieve mutually beneficial cooperation without any worries, he added.

Since then, Wen has become a frequent visitor to the Canton Fair and he has gradually gained a deeper understanding of the event.

The platform offers great convenience and opportunities for businesses to thrive, said Wen.

Foreign trade companies joining the event can learn about the latest products and technologies in respective fields, urging them to enhance their own product quality. "They also have access to buyers worldwide here, which reduces huge costs for market expansion," he added.

While Wen changed his job twice later, he remained committed to attending the Canton Fair.

"Compared with reading reports from others, I prefer to go to the fair myself where I can step up contacts with clients and obtain more business information," he said.

To date, Wen has participated in 69 sessions of the fair and all trading partners of his company are buyers he met at the Cantor Fair.
