The 127th Canton Fair held a Global Promotion on Cloud event for Brazil. Mr. Li Jinqi, Secretary General of the Canton Fair and Director General of China Foreign Trade Centre, Mr. He Jun, Commercial Counselor of the Consulate General of China in Sao Paulo, and Simplício Araújo, Maranhao's Secretary of Industry, Commerce and Energy, and other guests addressed the event online.
About 300 representatives of Brazilian business associations, buyers and entrepreneurs from 126 cities in 24 states including Sao Paulo, Parana, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Minas Gerais and Maranhao, attended the event.
He Jun pointed out that the current global pandemic is severe, especially in Brazil. At such a difficult moment, China-Brazil trade has grown by nearly 5% from January to May against the impact of the pandemic. In particular, Brazil's exports to China have increased significantly by over 12%, which has alleviated the narrowing of Brazil's foreign trade surplus and economic downturn.
In order to meet the needs of pandemic prevention and control, the 127th Canton Fair will be held online. Powered by advanced information technology, it will provide around-the-clock services for online product promotion, matchmaking and business negotiations, so that Chinese and international businessmen can place orders and cut deals without the hassle of travel.
He hoped that Brazilian buyers would actively attend Canton Fair to further tap the potential of China-Brazil trade and make contributions to the pandemic prevention and control in Brazil and the gradual work resumption.
Li Jinqi said that, as the barometer and weathervane of China's foreign trade, Canton Fair serves as an important platform for China's opening up and international trade cooperation and has contributed to promoting economic and trade ties between China and other countries and boosting international trade growth.
At present, the coronavirus is still raging across the world, a heavy blow to the global economy and trade. To maintain the openness, security and stability of global industrial and supply chains, expand opening up and help Chinese and foreign enterprises to develop markets, the Chinese government has decided to hold the 127th Canton Fair online.
Themed "Canton Fair, Global Share", the 127th Canton Fair will leverage digital technology and display new products of domestic and overseas companies online to create business opportunities and win-win outcome for enterprises at home and abroad. As the world's largest trade fair, Canton Fair will make use of technology to better play the role of an all-round open platform on the world trade arena.
Li invited Brazilian companies to register and attend the Fair, find trade partners, conduct online negotiations, place trade orders, thus contributing to the stability of economic and trade cooperation between China and Brazil.
Simplício Araújo said that Canton Fair has a grand scale and offers infinite business opportunities. Brazilian entrepreneurs are eager to trade with China and expand Chinese and global markets through Canton Fair. Over the past 3 years, he has brought about 50 entrepreneurs from all walks of life in Maranhao to attend Canton Fair every year.
He emphasized that attending Canton Fair could help Brazilian entrepreneurs expand their business, make new friends and broaden their horizons, which was an interesting and valuable experience.
Considering the needs of Brazilian buyers and that the 127th Canton Fair will be held online, representatives of China Foreign Trade Centre and China-Brazil Investment Development & Trade Centre, Canton Fair's partner in Brazil, introduced the function of Canton Fair online platform and demonstrated the operations of the platform in the topic of "Buyer's Digital Journey in the 127th Canton Fair".
An online Q&A session on exhibition section arrangement, exhibit categories, business matchmaking and buyer incentive activities run after that. With a large number of participants from a wide range of cities in Brazil, this highly targeted event can attract more Brazilian buyers to register and attend the Fair.
Brazil is China's largest trading partner in Latin America. Since 2009, China has been Brazil's largest trading partner for 11 consecutive years. Brazil is Canton Fair's key buyer source country, with over 3000 buyers attending the Fair each session.
Pooling the resources of its global partners and VIP buyers, China Foreign Trade Centre will organize five "Promotion on Cloud" events in Brazil, Chile, Peru, Argentina and Guatemala before the Fair opens to promote Canton Fair and invite more buyers from Latin America to attend.
These events can assist buyers to adapt to the new changes of the virtual Canton Fair, get to know the online platform functions and procedures in advance and be well-prepared for registration and attendance later.
