The 127th Canton Fair Hosts Promotion on Cloud Event for Germany

The 127th Canton Fair held its Global Promotion on Cloud event for Germany on June 5th. 
Mr. Zhang Hao, First Secretary of Economic and Commercial Counsellor's Office of Chinese Embassy in Germany, Mr. Michael Schumann, Chairman of the Board of Directors of German Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade, Mr. Duan Wei, the Chief Executive of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Germany, and Mr. Michael Frank, representative of regular Canton Fair buyers attended the event online.
Duan Wei said that as a window, epitome and symbol of China's opening up, Canton Fair has made important contributions to promoting global economic and trade cooperation. 
While the current pandemic has caused a huge impact on global economy, the 127th Canton Fair held online will provide maximum convenience for exhibitors and buyers who are unable to attend the fair during this special period. This is an innovative measure that has drawn widespread attention in business and exhibition industry in Germany. 
He hoped that through this platform, the economic and trade cooperation between Chinese and German enterprises would be further advanced, and the enterprises of our two countries would get through this tough time together.
Michael Schumann said that Germany is a solid partner of China in Europe. German companies, especially small and medium enterprises, need China's strong manufacturing capacity and huge consumer market. 
He mentioned that despite the decisive role exhibition industry played in both countries, our industry is facing severe challenge of the pandemic and many large-scale exhibitions in Germany have been cancelled or postponed. However, the organizer of Canton Fair takes a different approach to hold it online for free for exhibitors and buyers, which is very courageous and worthy of reference for German exhibitions. 
He sincerely hoped that this session of Canton Fair would create more trade opportunities for global exhibitors and buyers.
Michael Frank shared his experience of attending Canton Fair. He said that his company has attended in Canton Fair for 37 consecutive years since 1983 every spring and autumn. 
He noted that Canton Fair is such an attractive trade platform that every time he can meet new suppliers, find new products and learn about industry development and innovation trends. As far as his business is concerned, no exhibition in the world can be comparable to Canton Fair. 
In this special period of the pandemic, he was very pleased to see that the Canton Fair is to be held online. His company can still have the possibility of entering the Chinese market and maintain normal business development.
 
Liu Quandong, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Canton Fair and General Manager of International Communication Department of China Foreign Trade Centre, introduced the overall functions and features of the Canton Fair platform, and invited German companies to register, reach trade cooperation and expand the Chinese and global markets. 
Staff of China Foreign Trade Centre shared slides in the topic "Buyer's Canton Fair Journey" to demonstrate the whole processes for online attending and discussed on issues such as the qualifications of buyers and application of the platform.
This promotion event attracted more than 80 business representatives from nearly 20 industries in 14 federal states of Germany as well as state economic promotion organizations and regional chambers of commerce and industry from Bremen, Saarland, Hesse, Hamburg, etc. 
In addition, buyers from European countries such as the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Greece also attended this event online, which achieved the promotional effect of "Canton Fair, Global Share".
