CFTC Working Group Promotes Canton Fair in Ireland

From Sept 21-23, China Foreign Trade Centre working group promoted Canton Fair in Dublin, Ireland, through organizing promotion conference, meeting with chambers of commerce and industrial organizations, and visiting venues and exhibitions.

The working group successfully held Canton Fair promotion conference in Dublin. Huang He, Political Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Ireland, John Farrelly, President of County Meath Association of Chambers and Business Councils, and Chen Wen, Chairman of the Ireland China Science & Technology Association, attended the conference and delivered speeches. About 20 company representatives from gin manufacturer Chinnery Spirits, well-known pharmaceutical company SmartLine and auto parts manufacturer Carl Alarms attended the conference.

Ye Jijiang, Deputy Director General of China Foreign Trade Centre, introduced in detail Canton Fair’s features and advantages as the world’s largest international trade promotion platform to “buy from and sell to the globe” based on the 126 Canton Fair’s highlights. In his speech he called upon Irish enterprises to attend and participate in the Fair and drive the development of bilateral trade relations. Huang He pointed out, time-honored Canton Fair is an irreplaceable and unique trade promotion platform; he encouraged Irish companies to attend and participate in the Fair and grasp China’s market opportunities. John Farrelly said that Canton Fair is a valuable platform for Irish companies to enter the Chinese market and go global. Irish companies should seize the opportunities and actively participate in the Fair.

The working group met with County Meath Association of Chambers and Business Councils and Ireland China Science & Technology Association, had in-depth communication on Canton Fair Global Partnership Program, Internet Promotion Campaign, participating in the International Pavilion of Canton Fair, etc and achieved good results. On behalf of China Foreign Trade Centre, Ye Jijiang signed Global Cooperative Agreement with Ireland China Science & Technology Association. The two parties will launch pragmatic cooperation on information exchange, mutual promotion, Internet Promotion Campaign, organizing delegation for attendance. Chen Wen said it is an honor to become Canton Fair’s partner in Ireland and will further promote the Fair and organize delegation to attend the 127 session.

During their business trip, the working group also visited Ireland RDS exhibition and discussed with Deputy Chief Executive Michele Griffin on issues such as development trend of the exhibition industry, profit model, outsourced services, developing global market, etc. RDS is the venue for over 500 distinctive events each year and has rich experiences in organizing equestrian and American football events.

The group also inspected Convention Centre Dublin and collected information on smart upgrading and transformation of the venue, ICT application, environmental protection, conference center. CCD is Ireland’s largest exhibition ground, with a floor area of 170,000 m2.

While attending the 45th European Conference on Optical Communication, the group conducted field survey on brand enterprises, booth design, exhibitor services, conference and forum, etc. the ECOC is Europe’s renowned specialized exhibition on communication and attracted exhibitors such as HUAWEI, IBM and other famous enterprises.

The Economic and Commercial Counselor’s Office of the Chinese Embassy in Ireland sent a representative to accompany the group during their entire business agenda. The Office and the working group also exchanged ideas on further promoting Canton Fair and enhancing cooperation with industrial organizations and chambers of commerce.
