CFTC Working Group Promotes Canton Fair in Japan

From Sept 18-22, China Foreign Trade Centre working group led by Deputy Director General Xu Bing promoted Canton Fair in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, Japan, through meeting with government departments for trade promotion, commercial and industrial organizations, organizing promotion events to pursue further cooperation and encourage local companies to attend and participate in Canton Fair. The group introduced the latest development and situation of the Fair during their trip.

The working group visited JETRO, JAPIT, Japan Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and Tokyo Chamber of Commerce & Industry, met with Osaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Japan-China Economic Relations & Trade Center, Intex Osaka, and Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Kansai, held symposium with Kyoto Chamber of Commerce & Industry, JAPITKYOTO, Kyoto Maizuru Port Promotion Association and Kyoto Nanto Bank, and organized Canton Fair Promotion Conference in Osaka.


Canton Fair Osaka Promotion Conference

At Canton Fair Osaka Promotion Conference, Xu Bing gave a keynote speech titled “sharing new opportunities brought about by Canton Fair”. He said, the Chinese government sticks to the basic state policy of opening up and is committed to promote opening up of a higher level; a series of important measures will be introduced gradually. A more open and prosperous China will surely bring more opportunities for countries around the world. In the new era, Canton Fair focuses on constant innovation and reform, and a more comprehensive, specialized, globalized, digitalized and higher quality Canton Fair will create boundless opportunities for buyers and exhibitors across the world. He hoped that Japanese enterprises will make full use of Canton Fair as China’s largest trade promotion platform, enlarge the scale of bilateral trade and optimize trade mix to uplift trade cooperation between the two countries to a higher level.

Sun Shuqiang, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Consulate General in Osaka emphasized, Canton Fair has played an irreplaceable role in the economic and trade exchanges between China and the rest of the world. Canton Fair has also witnessed China’s opening up and development. He believed that more Japanese companies will attend the Fair after today’s event.

The relevant person in charge of Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry said, among various exhibitions in the world, Japanese businesses show strong interest to Canton Fair, reflecting the Fair’s strong vigor. Japan-China Economic Relations & Trade Center said, as Canton Fair’s strategic partner for many years, the Center organized a delegation to the Fair as early as in 1961. Recently, Canton Fair has become more and more successful, making great contributions to promoting economic and trade exchanges between China and Japan and between China and other countries. Ma Yunguo, Chairman of Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Kansai pointed out that as China-Japan relations enter a new development era, the two countries enjoy closer exchanges. He also hoped that the promotion event will attract more Japanese enterprises to Canton Fair.

The promotion conference was attended by over 70 representatives from government agencies, industrial and commercial organizations and SMEs. Local mainstream and industrial media such as Japanese Sankei, Television Nagasaki, Converting Technical Institute, the Chunichi Shimbun reported the event and interviewed Xu Bing.

During their meetings and symposiums, the working group introduced Canton Fair’s development history, high quality development in progress, and measures to build a comprehensive international trading platform to “buy from and sell to the world”; and had in-depth discussions with Japanese organizations on Canton Fair Global Partnership Program, Buyer Incentive Program, Smart Canton Fair, IPR protection and Japanese exhibitors participation in the Fair.

The group also visited the Economic and Commercial Counselor’s Office of the Chinese Embassy in Japan and the Economic and Commercial Section of the Chinese Consulate General in Osaka, and listened to suggestions on Japanese market, Canton Fair’s promotion and exhibitor recruitment.
