Canton Fair better serves all-round opening up

At the concluding press conference for the 124th Canton Fair, Xu Bing, spokesperson and Deputy Secretary General of Canton Fair, Deputy Director General of China Foreign Trade Centre, introduced future development of Canton Fair.

Xu said that with the care from Party and government leadership and the support from business circles at home and abroad and Chinese people nationwide, Canton Fair has focused on earning foreign exchange through export, building China into a big trading nation and then a strong trading power since its founding in 1957, especially in the 40 years of reform and opening up. Canton Fair has a glorious history for 62 years. Despite the changing international environment, we at Canton Fair have always “stayed true to the mission, been brave to opening up, persistent to the task and innovative to reform”, written a wonderful chapter in China’s course of reform and opening up and foreign trade history, created Canton Fair miracle.

Xu mentioned that there is no “button” in the world to replicate the past glory of development. For Canton Fair, we must follow national development strategy, keep pace with the times, be brave to reform and opening up in order to break new ground for development.

Xu introduced that in this new era we will follow the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and implement the spirit of the 19th CPC Congress and the instructions of President Xi’s congratulatory letter, stick to the new development concepts, focus on the goal of becoming a strong economic and trading nation in advance, and better play Canton Fair’s role as a multi-functional platform. We will make good use of domestic and international markets and resources and further open China’s doors to further contribute to the development of an open world economy and building a community of share future for mankind.

Serve a new round of opening up. We will improve the quality of Canton Fair’s International Pavilion, build an all-round platform for opening up that “buys from and sells to the globe” and boost import and global trade growth. We will deepen “Belt & Road” cooperation, build a marketing network that covers markets along the route, improve cooperation and provide impetus for common prosperity of the “B&R Initiative”. We will improve IPR protection and create secure and honest business environment to ensure innovation-led development. We will also organize promotion conferences for local feature industries and various trade match making activities to drive local open economic development.

Drive Canton Fair’s high quality development. We will stimulate innovation in mechanism and model of exhibition organization and include more exhibitors from home and abroad, so as to facilitate Chinese companies go global and introduce foreign companies. We will focus on specialization and keep optimizing the structure of exhibition sections, exhibits and exhibitors to attract more quality exhibitors and products. And we will improve the quality of our brand zone, encourage Chinese companies to speed up nurturing of self-owned brands and go global, and develop China’s world brands. We will also build Smart Canton Fair in a comprehensive way to make it a 24/7 platform for foreign trade promotion.

Promote market diversification of higher quality. We will implement the concepts of “innovative, specialized, targeted and delicate”, build a marketing network covering the whole world through the Internet and big data technology, extensively invite buyers to attend the fair to achieve diversification and internationalization of origin of quality buyers and help Chinese companies upgrade the mix of international market.
